We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with expert instructor Mark Przekurat of Fids and Fibers and BC Plant Health Care for this intensive, two day, hands-on splicing camp
The curriculum will cover the most common rope products in the industry, from hollow-braid, double-braid and 24-strand, right through to rigging & rope tools. You’ll learn how to identify, inspect, and think outside the box in terms of what can be made! The goal is ultimately to make you a safer, more productive arborist by increasing your awareness of professionally spliced tools.
What can you expect to get out of the Fids & Fibers Training Camp?
A thorough understanding of how and why splices work, how to inspect your splices, and how and why rope tools fail.
Printed instruction hand-outs on the splices and techniques covered during the course
Hands-on experience creating your own quality, and most importantly safe, splices. This is a valuable skill that gives you more control over your work environment by allowing you to create your own custom tools to accomplish your work both safely, and more efficiently. You will be working with hollow braid, 16-strand, 24-strand and high-modulus fibers.
Participants will receive their own rope for splicing as well as hardware for rope tools.
Meet new people and swap ideas with other splice-happy, like-minded climbers
Breakfast and lunch will be provided onsite each day to allow for more splicing time
A beginner’s splicing tool-kit will be available for purchase on site @ $90CAD or please provide your own
